About me
Art has always been my greatest
communication tool, helping me untangle feelings and weave narratives. It has
also equipped me with the creative language to work with others. My work is shaped by my cultural
identity, heritage and intergenerational trauma. I feel a strong connection towards using symbolic
materials including historical documents and fabrics passed down from
generations before. I strive to work with the most relevant symbolic
materials and often but not exclusively these materials are textiles
based.
I have a Degree in Embroidery and a Masters
in Art As Environment. Combined these have nurtured a socially responsible art
practice placing people and narratives at the forefront.
Within my own practice I have exhibited my artwork, taken part in art residencies and worked on private commissions. Alongside developing my art
practice, I have over 16 years experience creating within
communities. My projects nurture community cohesion, celebrate identity
and heritage, and promote well-being.
